Ellery East Art Center
A community-centered fiber art gallery and studio on Detroit’s East 7 Mile.

About the Art Center

Ellery East Art Center is a community-centered gallery and studio space dedicated to fiber art, fabric-based practices, and creative expression across the human lifecycle.

History

Founded by artist and educator Terrie Hylton, the Art Center highlights original textile works, with satin as a primary medium, alongside fabric collage incorporating beads, paint, found objects, and paper.

About The Space

Ellery East is both an exhibition space and a working studio, created to make art accessible, tangible, and rooted in everyday life.

Current Exhibition

Ellery East Art Center opens with City Pulse, featuring fiber works by Terrie Hylton.

This exhibition reflects the rhythm of fabric, movement, and layered materials, highlighting the expressive range of textile-based storytelling and abstraction.

Artwork & Objects

All works at Ellery East Art Center are original and one-of-a-kind.

In addition to larger textile pieces, the gallery features smaller original works and functional art objects created with the same attention to material, pattern, and care.
